The Early Learning Center is an educational child care center for children 3 months to 4 years 9 months of age.
The program is open to all families from Canton and its surrounding towns. Employees of the Mass Hospital School, Enable, Inc., Canton public school employees and siblings of children enrolled in other Cole-Harrington programs are given priority.
The program offers scholarships for families with incomes below 85% of the state median income.
Funding is available through state contracts with the Department of Early Education and Care to support the inclusion of children from low-income families and children at-risk for abuse and neglect.
The program actively collaborates with early intervention programs and local public schools to address the special education needs of all children.
Staff includes a full time program coordinator who holds a M.S. in Early Intervention and is Director I certified by EEC, two site coordinators with B.S./MEd degrees in Early Childhood Education, ten EEC certified teachers who have or are pursuing bachelor degrees in early childhood education or related fields, and three assistant teachers. The program includes a social worker to support staff efforts to meet the mental health needs of children and families. A child psychologist is also available for monthly consultation.
The program provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum designed to meet children’s emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs and uses an interactive approach to give children hands-on opportunities to explore materials and their environment.
